Newton Police Log: Search for Man Who Broke into Car, 2 Bikes Stolen

Aug. 30

Two vehicles parked in driveways on Church Street were broken into.

A 22-year old Newton resident will be summonsed to court on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

A woman complained to police about a bumper sticker being placed on her car.

Someone broke into a porch on Quinobequin Road by removing a glass pane.

Grant Avenue residents discovered someone broke into a home and several drawers were opened and items were scattered through the house.


Sept. 1

Trash cans owned by the town were taken from O’Rourke Path.

Police searched in Waban for a man who had been spotted breaking into cars on Pilgrim Road but cold not find him. The suspect was described as a heavyset man, 5-foot-10, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt. Nothing appeared to be missing.

A man got a call saying that his brother was in a car accident and needed $2,000. The man said he would not pay and the caller said he would kill him. The call is a common type of scam, police said, and the caller ID showed the caller was from Puerto Rico.

A 50-year-old man from Waltham will be summonsed to court for violation of a restraining order.

 

Sept. 2

A bicycle was stolen from the 800 block of Commonwealth Avenue. A matte black Trek 7.4 was taken from an open garage. The bike was brand new and had a rack on the back.

A Walnut Street resident reported a bicycle being stolen from his garage. The Lynskey bike has “Dura Ace” written in red on the wheels.
