Newton Police Log: Thief Tries to Break Into Depasquales, Vehicle Vandalized
The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Jan. 16
A woman left her bike in an open garage on Jan. 9 and discovered that it was gone. The bike is an older Specialized girl's street bike, painted Navy blue with purple lettering.
Someone spray painted a Mercedes Benz that was parked behind Velocity Motors on Hawthorne Street.
Police arrested a 13-year-old male for threats to commit murder.
Jan. 17
Police arrested Shawn T. Murphy, 33, of 17 Walden St. Apt. 6 in Revere, on warrants: one from Newton District Court for larceny over $250 and shoplifting by concealing merchandise; a second from Woburn District Court for two counts of larceny over $250 and one for shoplifting by concealing merchandise; and a third from Boston District Court for receiving stolen property over $250 and larceny over $250.
A vehicle parked behind the West Newton Post Office was scratched along the whole passenger side of the car.
A caller from Watertown Street heard noises behind her apartment and found that the door was broken in at Depasquales. The door could not be opened more than a foot. Nothing appeared to be taken from the business.
