Newton Police Log: Trio Busted in Shoplifting Case at Mall

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Aug. 9:

Newton Police arrested three men in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Chestnut Hill Mall. Two men were spotted by store security aimlessly walking around Bloomingdales. When police arrived one of the men made eye contact with the officer and quickly left the store. When the officer followed him he called someone on his cell phone and then began running and got into a car with two other men. The car was stopped by a nearby police sergeant. Martin St. Clair Frasier, 23 of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested for shoplifting by asportation, receiving a lost credit card, witness interference and giving a false name. Akeem Shabazz Williams, 18, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by asportation. Hodayah Odingo Sansculotte, 24 of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on charges of shoplifting by asportation and using a motor vehicle without permission.

A man will be summonsed to court for receiving stolen property after he was seen with a bicycle tire and rim stolen from an Ash Street resident.

Someone drove over the lawn of a home on Morseland Avenue, leaving deep tread marks. There was also damage to a white railing, stairs, banister, frame and shingles of the house. Police believe the damage was caused by a driver who lost control and hit the house.

A laptop was stolen from a vehicle at the CVS parking lot on Watertown Street between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

 

Aug. 11:

Some entered the First Baptist Church on Beacon Street and got into the church office by smashing a window on the door.


Aug. 12:

Police arrested Colleen Elizabeth Curry, 19 of Newton, on two counts of assault and battery.

A woman reported her car had been broken into while parked at the Newton Wellesley Hospital.
