Newton Police Log: Woman Strikes Officer, Teen Found Intoxicated

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Sept. 7

An independent taxi tried to pick up a passenger on Commonwealth Avenue and he was spotted by an officer on traffic detail during the Boston College football game. The taxi was not authorized to pick up passengers in Newton. The officer discovered the man had a warrant. Panel S. Armand, 53, of 48 Baker St. in West Roxbury was arrested on a warrant from Quincy District Court for marked lanes violation and unlicensed driving.

Police arrested Joseph Paul Walker, 30, of 14 Oneida St. in Sherwood, Ark., was arrested on charges of attempted murder and domestic assault and battery at the Marriot Hotel.

Someone scratched a car parked in a driveway the whole length of the car.

A bicycle was taken from a front porch sometime between Aug. 24 and Sept. 7. The bike is a silver and white Lemond Reno 10-speed racing bike with blue tape on the handle bars.

A 15-year-old girl was found intoxicated and with two bottles of liquor. The girl will be summonsed to court on a charge of a minor in possession of alcohol.

 

Sept. 8

A woman reported to police that her wallet was stolen while she was eating at the Cottage restaurant on Boylston Street on Sept. 4.

The driver’s side window of a Volvo VC90 was smashed by a bottle of Bacardi rum.

Police responded to Maple Street for reports of a woman screaming. When and officer attempted to bring the woman back into the house she pulled her arm away and shoved the officer in the face. Sheila Ann Doran-Sasselov, 59, of Newton, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace and assault and battery on a police officer.

A house on Blake Street was egged and the resident saw a red Saab leaving the scene.
