Newton Police Log: Woman Victim of Road Rage, iPhone Stolen from Shopping Cart

The following information was provided by the Newton Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Dec. 20

Police arrested David Feeney, 54, of 12 Haynes Road in Newton, on charges of assault and batter with a dangerous weapon - a shod foot, and assault and battery.

A taxi driver picked up a woman and took her to Oak Street in Newton. She said she would go inside the house and get the $90 for the ride and return. A short time later she saw a woman leave the house and get into a brown sedan. He tried to stop the car but it left the area.


Dec. 21

A woman was driving and was waiting to enter the Horace James Circle Rotary in Brookline when the driver of a vehicle behind her began blowing the horn to get her to go. When she did proceed, the vehicle tailgated her and swerved on either side in an attempt to pass her on Newton Street and then on Brookline Street in Newton. The woman finally pulled over in front of Memorial Spaulding School and the other driver stopped too, and blocked her in. The other driver, a woman, got out of the car and began pounding on her car and yelling obscenities. The first driver yelled that she would call the police, and the second driver got in her car and pulled away. As she left she yelled, "I am the police." The second driver did not show a badge and there were no markings showing the vehicle was a police vehicle.

An iPone was taken from the cart of a person shopping at Marty's Liquor Store.


Dec. 23

A bike was stolen from from the corner of Peabody and Washington streets. The white 1985 Peugeot u05 was locked up to a sign post.
