Newton Police are looking for a suspect in an attempted sexual assault in a parking garage early Thanksgiving morning.
According to a press release issued by the Newton Police, a 49-year-old woman was getting out of her car on the second level of the Crowne Plaza parking garage around 12:30 a.m. when a man approached her with a handgun.
The man, who reportedly spoke with "a Russian or Romanian accent," threatened the victim "to let him perform a sexual act on her or he would kill her."
The victim then put her hand in her purse and moved it around, which caused the suspect to back away. The woman was able to get back into her car, lock the doors and drive to the street level of the garage and reported the incident.
Police said the victim was not touched by the suspect and was not hurt during the incident. Police searched the area with negative results.
The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 5’7” to 5’8” tall, weighing 160-170 pounds, with brown eyes and a clean-shaven face. He was wearing a black knit wool cap with a bill and dressed in all black clothing.
The suspect was last seen walking toward the garage stairwell.
Police are still investigating the incident and anyone having information is urged to contact the Newton Police at 617 796-2100 or use the department's anonymous “TIPS”-line at 617 796-2121.
