Newton Police Warn of New Scam

The latest scam involves a letter sent via fax.

Following a recent scam attempt, the Newton Police Department is reminding residents this week not to send personal information to unknown individuals.

According to a message sent from the Police Department last week, a scam letter asking to form a "business relationship" was recently sent via fax.

In the letter, the sender claims to have inherited $95 million and is looking for investment opportunities in the U.S.

A .pdf copy of the scam letter is included in the media section to the right.

If you receive a phone call, letter, or fax that you believe is a scam, call the Newton Police at 617-796-2100.

Thanks for sharing! I read the same scam reported at www.callercenter.com and I think that, it is really helps when such scams are exposed right away. There are a lot of phone scams out there- I've received a few calls myself, and let me add this warning that some of these perpetrators are really good at it. They are very convincing and if the victim isn't aware of the scheme, the victim might just fall into the trap. So be careful.
