The show had been scheduled for Friday night.

The hurricane was off North Carolina Thursday and could reach the coast of Massachusetts Friday night or Saturday morning.

The Newton "Kids' Morning" event was postponed to Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Newton Center Playground and the carnival/craft booths event was postponed to Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m.

Newton Community Pride, the group that organizes the event each year, will be asking for donations, which can also be made here.
