One Suspect in Custody After Armed Home Invasion in Newton

Police are still searching for the second suspect.

Police have one suspect in custody this afternoon after an armed home invasion on Falmouth Road in Newton.

According to Newton Police Officer Eric Rosenbaum, police responded to the scene around 2:30 p.m. Friday after a resident reported an armed home invasion involving two masked men with a 12-inch knife.

Rosenbaum said two people were in the home at the time of the incident. One victim, a male, heard a noise at the back of the house and when he went to investigate, he spotted the suspects coming into the home.

There was a brief struggle between the victim and a suspect, Rosenbaum said, before the victim was able to flee to a neighbor's house. The other victim was then told to run to his room and stay there.

No one was injured in the incident, Rosenbaum said.

After responding to the scene, police were able to locate one of the suspects and place him into custody, Rosenbaum said.

According to scanner reports, that suspect was found on Fuller Street in Waltham, about 400-500 yards away from the Falmouth Road home.

Police are still searching for the second suspect, Rosenbaum said.

Multiple K9s have responded to the scene, Rosenbaum said, and the State Police air wing is also assisting with the search.
