Person Arrested Near Charles River Bridge after Pike Chase, Crash in Stolen Car

Massachusetts State Police have one suspect in custody following failure to stop on Mass Pike.

Updated: An additional announcement from the Office of Media Relations relayed the following:

The below pursuit began at approximately 12:35 p.m. after the State Police Barracks in Weston received calls of an erratic vehicle travelling eastbound in the Weston area. A check of the provided license plate revealed the car to be stolen. A trooper observed and attempted to stop the car. The operator refused to stop and accelerated in an attempt to flee. After a brief pursuit the operator lost control of the car and crashed. He was taken into custody. The suspect suffered minor injuries. The investigation is ongoing. We will provide more information when available and appropriate.

One person is in custody following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a collision with another vehicle near Exit 15 of the Mass Pike.

According to Massachusetts State Police Twitter reports, an "erractic operator" who failed to stop on the Pike has been arrested near the Charles River Bridge at the Weston/Newton border. Police are currently investigating whether the car was stolen.

Other Twitter reports indicate that the suspect and the driver of the vehicle with which the suspect collided sustained minor injuries and both cars will be towed. Reports indicate the suspect was not wearing seatbelt and sustained some facial cuts from the airbag in the crash.

The Office of Media Relations for the Massachusetts State Police released the following preliminary report:

A short time ago Massachusetts State Police units assigned to Troop E pursued an erratic operator, who had failed to stop for police on the Massachusetts Turnpike, Route 90, eastbound, in the Weston/Newton area. The operator is under arrest. We have no further details at this time and will update when appropriate.
