Police Log: Driver Charged with Drunk Driving for Second Time

Drunk Driving Arrest

Police arrested a Dennisport man after a car accident on Elm Street on Tuesday.

Police charged Ryan Hutchings, 24, 16 The Other Road, Dennisport, and charged him with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor (second offense) and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Police responded to Elm Street at about 9 p.m. Tuesday after a motorist struck a telephone phone. There was major damage to the front of the vehicle as well as to the telephone pole.

Police said Hutchings was angry at the scene and smelled of alcohol. His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, said police.

Officers arrested Hutchings.


Teen Pulls Knife During Argument

Police arrested a 19-year-old Newton teen and charged her with assault with a dangerous weapon to wit a knife on Monday.

Officers responded to Madison Avenue concerning an argument. A motorist told police he was driving onto Walnut Street and beeped his horn “to give pedestrians notification of him pulling onto Walnut due to the obstructed view, narrow driveway and busy sidewalk,” said police.

The beeping reportedly startled Sadaryl A. Parham, 19, 303 Newtonville Ave., Newton, who allegedly began arguing with the driver. She also pulled out a knife, he said.

Police arrested Parham.


Burglary on Glen Road

Police responded to Glen Road on Monday after a burglary.

Jewelry was taken from the residence.


Shoplifting at Bloomingdales

Police summonsed a 51-year-old Dennisport resident to court and charged her with shoplifting after an incident at the Bloomingdales.

All items were recovered.


Attempted Burglary on Bishopsgate Road

Police responded to Bishopsgate Road after an attempted burglary.

The alleged burger removed a small narrow windowpane in the basement and smashed drywall with a plastic red shovel.

Nothing was reportedly taken.
