Police Log: Newton Teens Allegedly Break into Middle School with Marijuana

The following information was supplied by the Newton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Two Newton teens were arrested on Saturday, Feb. 9 after they were allegedly caught with marijuana at F.A. Day Middle School.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the school around 5:15 p.m. Saturday for reports of an alarm.

When police arrived on scene, they found the school's door had been propped open by snow and an orange cone. Officers also smelled the scent of freshly burnt marijuana, reports said.

As a result, Alexander Petitti, 19, of 160 Pine St., and John MacKay, 17, of 137 Craft St., were arrested for breaking and entering in the nighttime and defacing property, police said.

MacKay was also charged with possession to distribute a class D substance and drug violation near a school, police said.

When the voters change the laws so that marijuana possession is de-criminalized and it is sold legally in retail establishments, will these kids no longer be criminals? Will you apologize for arresting them? Did the police twist their arms near the breaking point and describe it in their official report as "Light Tactical Restraint" as they did with me? In fact, I no longer trust ANYTHING from a police report. They lie, plain and simple, and you "responsible journalists" publish those lies as if they are undeniable facts.

so if you're in need of the police or the fire because of medical reasons ,they are not to be trusted because they are of the establishment, you sound like Abby Hoffman who back in the 60's said"" screw the establishment", then he grew up --like you should and became part of the establishment ,,google him and you'll understand

You are making assumptions about what I think based on your own mistaken perceptions. I am saying I no longer trust anything from a police report because the police report written about ME three weeks ago and published on the Patch was a pack of deliberate lies and distortions. i MET Abby Hoffman in 1983, and I take the comparison as a great compliment, except your misperceptions about Hoffman are as bad as your misperceptions about Maleson. You should investigate who and what Abby Hoffman ACTUALLY was and what he stood for. He got arrested in the mid 1980s protesting the ROTC on campus and won. Hoffman would agree with most everything I say, while I think he would have said "Screw anyone calling themselves a Hawk". Hoffman had integrity and never changed in the ways you'd like to believe.

"then he grew up --like you should" Believe me, I grew up very quickly on Januray 27, 2013 when I personally experienced police brutality on my arm. I am no naive kid anymore.
