Police Log: Newton Teens Caught Drinking, Smoking Pot in Parked Car

Teens caught in a smoky car
Five Newton teens will have to appear in court after police caught them smoking pot and drinking in a car parked on Lakeview Avenue.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to the Lakeview Avenue on Friday for reports of a suspicious vehicle in front of a residence. After arriving on scene, the officer could see the car was filled with smoke and puffs of smoke were coming out of a cracked window.

After confronting the occupants and investigating the vehicle, police found four bottles of Amstel Light beer, a small bottle of Bacardi rum, a nip of Cointreau, four bags of "green, leafy substance" believed to be marijuana, one vaporizer, one pipe, a marijuana grinder and two bongs.
As a result, four 17-year-old Newton males and one 16-year-old Newton male will appear in court for charges of underage possession of alcohol. A city ordinance violation for possession of marijuana (under one ounce) was also mailed to all five parties.

iPhone stolen from store
Police responded to the AT&T store on Boylston Street Friday after someone reported an iPhone had been stolen from the store.
According to reports, the suspect walked into the store, headed directly to the display and ripped the iPhone model off the display.
The suspect, who was described as a black male, fled toward Brookline, reports said.
Vehicle break-in on Derby Street
A man who parked his car in a driveway on Derby Street told police Friday that his vehicle was broken into sometime overnight.
According to reports, someone cut the back passenger plastic window of his Jeep Wrangler. The incident happened sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Friday.
Man spots suspect after vehicle break-in
Police responded to Miller Road Saturday after a woman reported someone had broken into her car.
The victim told police the suspect was a female holding a red bag, reports said. The suspect reportedly fled toward Centre Street.
Boston man faces license charges
A Boston man was arrested Saturday after police pulled him over on Commonwealth Avenue for reportedly cutting off another driver while trying to make a left turn from Commonwealth Avenue to Centre Street.
Ernest A. Foster, 45, of 1575 Commonwealth Ave. #5, was arrested and charged with driving with a revoked license and failure to yield to the right of way.
