Police Log: Stolen Car; Warrant Arrest; Multiple Vehicle Break-ins

The following information was supplied by the Newton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Stolen car

Police took a report on Nov. 16 from a man who said his car was stolen from a parking lot behind Herrick Road.

According to reports, the blue 2004 Dodge Neon was left unlocked in the lot. It was stolen sometime between Nov. 15 at 1 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 8 a.m.

Car break-ins

The Newton Police responded to the following locations for reports of vehicle break-ins:

  • Nov. 16, Gail Road - Owner told police he parked his car in the driveway around 1 a.m. and left the car unlocked. He discovered the driver's side door was open around 7 a.m.
  • Nov. 16, address not given - Owner reported a vehicle break-in sometime between Nov. 15 at 9:30 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 8 a.m. The vehicle was parked in the driveway.
  • Nov. 17, address not given - Owner told police his car was broken into sometime between Nov. 15 at 7:45 p.m. and Nov. 16 at 6:15 a.m. The car was parked in a driveway and left unlocked.
  • Nov. 19, Greenlawn Ave - Owner told police his car was broken into sometime between Nov. 18 at 3:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 9:15 a.m. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and left unlocked.

Domestic incident leads to arrest

A Newton teen was arrested on Nov. 16 after police responded to Hamlet Street for reports of a domestic disturbance.

Deirdre Marina Bryant, 19, of 63 Hamlet St. was arrested following the incident, police said. Charges were not specified.

Man arrested on warrant following crash

A Brookline man was arrested on a warrant Monday, Nov. 18 after police responded to a car accident in which he was involved.

According to reports, police responded to a three-car accident at the corner of California Street and Bridge Street. After running information on the three drivers, police found one driver had a default warrant.

Logan James Carswell, 25, of 2 Thorndike St., was arrested on that warrant, police said.

Man arrested after family disturbance

A Newton man was arrested on Nov. 18 after police responded to Cherry Street for reports of a family disturbance.

Anthony Thomas Tramontozzi, 34, of 26 Cherry St., was arrested and charged with domestic assault and battery, police said.
