Newton man faces license charges

A Newton man was arrested on Jan. 15 for license charges after police pulled him over on Waltham Street.

According to police reports, a Newton Police officer was on Adams Street when a Honda with a loud exhaust passed by. The officer then ran the registration for the vehicle and found that the registered owner did not have a license. 

The driver, Oscar Aroldo Ramirez-Perez, 28, of 53 Pearl St. #2, was arrested and charged with unlicensed operation and an exhaust violation, police said. 

Another exhaust violation leads to an arrest

A Waltham man was arrested on Jan. 15 after Newton Police pulled him over on Lexington Street.

According to police reports, the Newton Police officer was on Lexington Street when a Honda passed by with a loud exhaust. 

The officer pulled the driver over for the exhaust violation and found he did not have a license.

The driver, Victor Osores, 25, of 88A Alder St., was arrested and charged with driving without a license and an exahaust system violation, police said. 

Middle school student caught with a knife

Newton Police responded to F.A. Day Middle School on Jan. 15 after the school's assistant principal reported that a student had been found in possession of a knife.

As a result, police will seek complaints against a 12-year-old Newton boy for carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds, police said. 

Assault and arson

A person came in to Newton Police Headquarters on Jan. 15 to report a past assault that occurred on Norwood Avenue in Newton.

As a result, police are seeking complaints against a 34-year-old Newton man for charges of domestic assault and battery as well as threats to commit a crime (arson).

Man caught breaking into residence

Newton Police responded to Chestnut Street on Jan. 16 for reports of a possible breaking and entering in progress.

According to reports, the caller reported seeing a black man enter the residence through a window on the side of the house.

There are active harassment orders against the man who broke into the house, reports said.

As a result, Jawara Gamal McIntosh, 32, of 33 Dix St., Dorchester, was arrested and charged with violation of a trespassing order and breaking and entering to commit a misdemeanor, police said.

Break-in on Fuller Street

Newton Police responded to Fuller Street on Jan. 17 after a woman reported a past breaking and entering at her home.

According to reports, the woman woke up on the morning of Jan. 17 to find a broken glass panel on the back door of her home. She also found glass all over the kitchen floor.

In addition, the back room next to the kitchen, which is used as an office, also had a smashed window panel and the window was open.

Police found fresh footprints leading from Fuller Street up the left side of the house and right to the rear kitchen door and window.

The woman reported that an antique sterling silver set was missing from the home, but could not immediately recall any other stolen items, police said.
