Police Log: Thefts and Vandalism to Homes, Vehicles

Missing dealer plates

A Honda Village employee reported to police Tuesday that during a quarterly plate check, the dealership the found that five dealer plates are missing and/or stolen. The plates were stolen sometime between Nov. 1 and Jan. 10, reports said.

An employee at in Newton Highlands told police Wednesday that someone stole a 24" x 36" sidewalk sign. The theft happened sometime overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, reports said. 

Fight leads to arrest

A Newton teen was arrested Thursday after police responded to a fight on Wilson Circle, reports said. 

Ashly Calafell, 17, of 3 Wilson Circle was arrested for domestic assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250, police said. 

Broken windows, beer bottles and dog feces

A woman told police Thursday that someone had smashed the small passenger window to her car sometime between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday, reports said. 

In addition, the woman told police that she found a number of beer bottles on her front lawn as well as dog feces all over the driveway and another vehicle. 

Vandalism on Bulloughs Park

Police responded to Bulloughs Park Thursday for multiple instances of vandalism, reports said. 

In one instance, a resident said a second floor window had been smashed with a rock. The resident said he had heard a thump around 11:15 p.m. the night before, but thought something had just fallen over. A rock was found in the room with the smashed window. 

While responding to the Bulloughs Park home, the officer also spotted a Suburu Outback on the street that had had its rear window shattered. The officer found a "fist-sized rock" in the back of the vehicle, reports said. 

Theft at Newton South

A student told police Thursday that someone had stolen several items from an unlocked locker in the girls' locker room at the school. 

Reports said the theft happened sometime between 12:55 p.m. and 1:55 p.m. Cash, an iPod and iPod headphones were taken from the locker, reports said.

Almond thief

A 65-year-old Bedford man was issued a no trespassing order after he allegedly stole food from the at 978 Boylston St., police said.

Reports said a witness saw the man place the bag of almonds in his coat pocket and a soda in his pant pocket without paying for the items. 

Vehicle Vandalism

Police responded to the Washington Street Thursday after a man reported his car had been vandalized while parked in the Our Lady's Church parking lot.

Reports said the air was let out of all four tires on the 1996 black BMW. 

Break-in on Maple Street

Police responded to a residence on Maple Street Wednesday after a resident reported she returned home from work that evening to find her MacBook Pro laptop missing.
