Police: Man Assaulted on MBTA Train in Newton Highlands

The incident happened during the Monday morning commute.

Police spent part of Monday morning searching the area around the Newton Highlands T stop after a man was reportedly assaulted on a Green Line (D) train.

According to reports, the victim was on the train and talking on his cell phone when a man came up from behind and slapped the cell phone out of the victim's hand.

Reports said the suspect also slapped the victim's face in the process.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the train and ran off in an unknown direction. 

The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 27-years old, wearing a white t-shirt and jeans. He was also carrying a black backpack, reports said.

Police canvassed the area around the T stop, including Station Avenue, with negative results.

According to service alerts sent this morning from the MBTA, the outbound trains on the D Line experienced some minor delays due to the suspect search. 

The victim did not sustain any visible injuries and refused medical attention, police said.
