Police Searching Newton Area for Rhode Island Amber Alert Suspect/Child

The Amber Alert started in Rhode Island on Wednesday.

Police are searching Newton for a mother and her child from Rhode Island in connection with an Amber Alert after a cell phone was pinpointed to Newton.

Waltham Police said, via their Twitter feed, the phone had been pinged in Newton.

Daniel Britt, 6, was last seen Jan. 8 with his mother, Andria Britt.

Andria Britt is driving a red 2004 Ford sedan, with Rhode Island license plate 942-649. The car has a yellow bumper stick that says "Support your local farmers."

Andria ignored a previous court order to return the child to his father in conjunction with a custody agreement. A Rhode Island judge has deemed Andria a danger to her child.

Police think Andria may be heading to Washington state.

Anybody with information should call 911.
