Police Seek Man Seen Carrying Box Out of Newton Home

The person of interest is suspected of taking numerous valuables from a Crafts Street home.

Newton Police seek a person of interest suspected of breaking into a Crafts Street home and taking numerous valuables

On Nov. 18, a Crafts Street resident found that someone had rummaged through her home in multiple places.

A witness saw a man walking down the driveway carrying a box with a red box poking out - which might have been a silverware case. The man headed toward Watertown Street, Newton Police said 

She was missing a number of items:

  • a diamond 14k solitaire engagement ring
  • a hinged gold cuff bracelet
  • 24k earrings with 12 diamond cut emeralds and 8 melee diamonds
  • a 14k bracelet; a diamond ring – 14k
  • a 14k gold Omega necklace
  • a red colored box containing silverware
  • an iPad.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing dark rimmed glasses, had shoulder length shaggy hair, and wore a blue sweatshirt, and carried a reusable shopping bag, police said.
