Will it take someone being killed to fix this intersection?? I work in Newton Centre and use this crosswalk three or four times a day. The sight line from west to east on Centre Street is terrible. Cars speed up on the upgrade. There is rarely if ever police monitoring this area. (Crossing at Centre and Pelham is just as dangerous). This area is a perfect storm of minor and major violations( jaywalking, running red lights, blocking intersections, speeding, driver inattentiveness) all of which add up to the possibility of a real tragedy.
