Updated 10:30 p.m.
As of 11 p.m., a snow emergency will be in effect in Newton, according to a Tweet from the Newton Police Department.
Earlier, Newton Patch reported a Newton Police Tweet that indicated the snow emergency would start at 8 p.m. However, the time was changed to 11 p.m.
During a snow emergency all cars must be parked off the street to allow for plows and proper snow clearing. Vehicle owners who violate the snow emergency by parking on city streets will be ticketed and towed.
In addition, residents should remember the city's trial snow shoveling ordinance, which requires homeowners to clear sidewalks outside their homes within 30 hours of a storm.
If residents have any snow-related service requests for the city, they can contact the City Hall customer service line at 617-796-2100 or file a request with the 311 reporting system.
