Suspect Spotted Breaking into Newton Upper Falls Home Saturday

According to police reports, the reporting party was sleeping on the couch when she saw the suspect walk into the house.

Newton Police and the department's K-9 unit searched part of Newton Upper Falls early Saturday morning after a woman on Chandler Place reported someone breaking into her home around 4:45 a.m. 

According to reports from the , the reporting party was sleeping on the couch when she heard the front door open and saw someone with a flashlight walking into the home.

Police said the suspect only stepped into the home briefly and was scared off when the woman started waking up on the couch. The suspect fled the home quickly and did not appear to take anything.

When police arrived on scene, they found several footprints in the dew-covered grass around the house. The department's K-9 unit was called to the scene to search the area. 

Reports said the K-9 tracked a scent across Chandler Place and through several backyards, leading to Wetherell Street. The scent then followed the railroad tracks to Oak Street, where it was lost in a vacant parking lot near 109 Oak St.
