A truck took down wires and a pole on Albemarle Road, damaging cars and causing a transformer to leak into a nearby brook.
The accident occurred next to the Gath Pool, near Crafts Street at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Newton Police.
"A pole was hit and dragged it about 25 feet and damaged some cars," said Newton Police Officer Eric Rosenbaum.
Roads in the area were closed while NSTAR was called to work on the wires, Rosenbaum said.
A transformer leaked into a nearby brook, according to scanner reports, and a hazardous materials crew was called to deal with it.
