Local Teens Charged with Assaulting Cop at St. Mary of Carmen Festival

Police made four arrests over four days during the festival.

Newton police over the weekend made three more arrests at Pelligrini Park during the 79th annual St. Mary of Carmen Society festival.

Two teenagers from Watertown were arrested Friday after officers said they observed a group of boys and girls "possibly selling narcotics."

When an officer approached the group and announced himself, one teenager tried to run away. Police said two of the teens attacked an officer.

Police charged an 18-year-old boy with assault and battery of a police officer, obstruction of justice, and alcohol possession. Police said they planned to charge a 17-year-old boy with assault and battery on a police officer and obstruction of justice. Their names were not released.

On Sunday, police also arrested a Milford man for trespassing at the festival. Adam Busuito, 22, was arrested Thursday after police said he was involved in a fight at the festival and issued a no-trespass order. Police said an officer spotted Busuito at the festival Sunday night and promptly arrested him for trespassing.
