Woman Says She was Attacked at Newton Hospital

A woman told police Thursday that she was attacked in a parking lot at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

A woman told police Thursday she was attacked in a parking lot at while attempting to get into her car.

According to police reports, officers responded to the hospital around 8:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 20) after reports of an assault in the parking lot behind the emergency room.

After he heard the emergency distress signal, an employee found the woman on the ground under the emergency call box around 8:10 p.m., reports said. The woman was then transported to the emergency room, where police were able to speak with her.

The victim told police she had just placed her belongings in her car when she was hit in the face by an unknown man. The woman claimed the man then pushed her and hit her head against a concrete wall near the car. 

The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction, reports said. 

The suspect was described as a black male -- "a big man" -- around 6'3" tall, in his 40s, wearing jeans and sneakers and looking "grungy."
