Newton Resident Announces Candidacy for Massachusetts Governor

Auburndale resident Evan Falchuk will run as a United Independent candidate.

The 43-year-old Falchuk, who lives in Auburndale, serves as the vice chairman at Best Doctors, Inc., where he has worked in executive leadership roles since 1999, according to a press release issued Monday afternoon.

Falchuk has a degree from Lehigh University and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He previously worked as an attorney in Washington, D.C. and focused on Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement, according to the Best Doctors website.

Founded by Falchuk earlier this year, the United Independent political movement looks to shift political focus away from the Democrat and Republican argument of "small government versus big government," the press release said. Instead, the UI movement focuses on "greater accountability to voters, stronger protection of social freedoms, and more innovative, fiscally sane solutions that improve the day-to-day lives of individuals, families and communities."

"Our two-party system is broken. We see it every day in the news and on television," Falchuk said in his campaign video. "The people are speaking. We're tired of politics as usual. We're saying it's time for real answers instead of status quo politics."

According to Falchuk's press release, United Independent supporters have received political designation in Massachusetts and are working toward the same party standing as Democrats and Republicans.

“Given hard issues like our financially strapped school systems, multi-generational poverty, and needing to help our state’s small businesses thrive, we just can’t afford to continue down this same path using the same thinking,” Falchuk said in the press release. “The majority of people say they want independent candidates with different ideas – people who aren’t an ingrained part of the established parties in Massachusetts that have been the norm for so many decades.”

Falchuk is married to Felicia Falchuk and is a father of three, the press release said.
