[UPDATED 6:55 p.m.] Reports: Newton Mayor to Drop Out of Senate Race

According to a supporter who called the Boston Globe, Mayor Setti Warren is said to be dropping out of the senate race tomorrow.

Updated 6:55 p.m. Mayor Setti Warren will hold a press conference tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. "to deliver a formal address on the future of his campaign for U.S. Senate," Warren's campaign announced Wednesday evening.

Warren will make the announcement at his home on Beaumont Avenue, according to an emailed press release sent from Press Secretary Chuck Gilboy.


According to a report published Wednesday afternoon by Boston.com, Newton Mayor Setti Warren will announce tomorrow that he is dropping out of the U.S. Senate race.

The Globe reported that they were tipped off by one of Warren's early supporters, who received a call today about the announcement.

Warren's campaign has yet to make an official statement either way. 

Less than two years into his first term as a mayor, . Although , Warren's team emphasized their strong grassroots efforts.

The current Democratic ballot includes six other candidates hoping to get a shot at Scott Brown's seat, including , , , , Newton resident and most recently, .
