Newton Chosen for Medicinal Pot Dispensary

The state's Department of Public Health announced Friday morning the 20 applicants that will be receiving medicinal marijuana licenses to operate in Massachusetts.

The Department of Public Health announced Friday morning the 20 applicants that will be awarded medicinal marijuana licenses to operate in Massachusetts, including Garden Remedies, Inc., in Newton. 

Dispensaries will be located in Mashpee, Dennis, Taunton, Fairhaven, Salem, Haverhill, Holyoke, Northampton, Lowell, Ayer, Newton, Cambridge, Brookline, Quincy, Plymouth, Brockton, Boston, Milford and Worcester, according to the announcement.

More than 100 groups applied for licenses to open medical pot shops around the state. The licenses were awarded by county.

Really disappointed this is opening in our beloved Newton community. Pot saps motivation, is a loser drug. If it is medical, have it offered at the doctors office after peer reviewed research. This is going to be near school, etc. Disgusted.

true ... wait until "dale": a) has to take chemo, b) dislikes NSAIDs (damage the stomach, the liver, etc.), or c) dislikes narcotics or pseudo-narcotics (e.g. gabapentin, lyrica). I found that THC helped me take methotrexate orally forty years ago; stopped acid reflux, and helped me to eat without regurgitation.
