Brandeis Sells President's Mansion in Newton

A local family purchased the Beaumont Avenue home.

Brandeis University has sold its president's mansion in Newton for a cool $2 million, according to the Boston Herald.

The 66 Beaumont Ave. home sold for around $2.06 million to the Pike family after Brandeis President Fred Lawrence chose not to move into it but instead live in the Watch Factory Lofts in Waltham to be closer to the student population, according to the Herald.

The house, which is configured for entertaining guests, was on the market for five months, according to the Herald. A Brandeis spokesman told the Herald said he expected the university to keep the sale's proceeds for now.
