Newton Residents Graduate from Tufts, Berklee and Roger Williams

A roundup of Newton residents who recently graduated college or received academic honors.

Six Newton residents named to Curry College Dean's List

Several Newton residents were recently named to the Curry College Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester. 

West Newton residents Gerald ChiarelliMichael LopezNicholas Nicolazzo were named to the list as well as Newton residents Anthony Zagame and Ethan Zolit and Auburndale resident Lin Li.

According to a press release from the Milton, Mass. school, students must earn a 3.30 grade point average, have no incompletes and have no grade lower than a "C" for the semester in order to make the list. Full-time students must carry 12 or more graded credits for the semester; part-time students must be matriculated, carrying 6-11.5 graded credits for the semester and must have earned a cumulative total of 15 graded credits in consecutive semesters.

Two local residents named to Eckerd College Dean's List

Waban resident Kathryn Adamo and Chestnut Hill resident Jeremy Raynor were recently named to the Eckerd College Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester. 

According to a press release from the St. Petersburg, Fla. school, students who completed at least four courses with a grade point average of 3.75 make the list.

Four Newton residents graduate from Tufts University

Two Newton and two Waban residents recently earned degrees from Tufts University, according to a press release from the Medford, Mass. school. 

The graduates included Newton residents Ian Duncan-Brown and Alexandra Laffer as well as Waban residents Clifford Bargar and Gabriel Saltzman

Duncan-Brown graduated with a bachelor's degree in English, cum laude, and a bachelor's degree in Philosophy, cum laude.

Laffer graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology, cum laude. Laffer was also on the spring 2012 dean's list. 

Bargar graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, summa cum laude, and a bachelor's degree in mathematics. 

Salzman graduated with a bachelor's degree in music, magna cum laude, and a bachelor's degree in clinical psychology, magna cum laude. Salzman also made the spring 2012 dean's list. 

According to a press release from the school, Tufts' graduation ceremony was held on May 20 and featured Navy SEAL Eric Greitens as the commencement speaker.

Local residents earn degrees from Berklee College of Music

Four Newton and Chestnut Hill residents recently graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass.

Chestnut Hill resident Hyoung-bin Kim earned a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring; Newton Centre resident Donald Landers IV earned a Bachelor of Music in Film Scoring; Chestnut Hill resident Jisub Song earned a Bachelor of Music in Performance; and Chestnut Hill resident Jon Vinal earned a Bachelor of Music in Songwriting.

According to a press release from the school, Berklee's graduation ceremony was held in May 2012. 

Newton residents make Berklee Dean's List

Five Newton residents were recently named to the Berklee College of Music Dean's List for the spring 2012 semester. 

Newton residents Paul BatchelorRoss HoytOlga Nichitina and Wesley Yee as well as West Newton resident Brittany Bethune were named to the list

According to a press release from the Boston, Mass. school, full time students who make the dean's list must achieve a grade point average of 3.4 or above; part time students must earn a grade point average of 3.6 or above.

Steven Zeitler graduates from Roger Williams Univ.

Newton resident Steven Zeitler recently graduated from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. 

According to a press release from the school, Zeitler earned a Bachelor of Science in Management. 

The Roger Williams commencement was held May 19 and the featured speaker was the Honorable Madeleine K. Albright.
