PHOTOS: Mount Ida College Celebrates New Turf Field, Exciting Victory

The Mount Ida Mustangs pulled out a last-minute victory against UMass Dartmouth last weekend, making the celebration of the new turf field even sweeter.

Last Friday was a big night at -- not only did the school celebrate a new field and stadium, it also celebrated an exciting home victory. 

With less than two minutes left to the season's home opener, the Mount Ida College football team managed to convert a 47-yard field goal to defeat UMass Dartmouth 21-24.

The game took place following the official ribbon cutting of  and state-of-the-art stadium, which features new artificial turf, new lights, new bleachers, a press box and a scoreboard.

Newton Mayor Setti Warren and new President Barry Brown were on hand for the ribbon cutting and coin toss.
