Newton Has a New Cupcake Place, Find Out Where

Cupcake City will help you satisfy your sweet tooth.

Looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, there's a new spot in Newtonville for you.

Cupcake City opened at 313 Walnut St. in early November, and offers a variety of cupcakes baked fresh every morning.

Co-owners Karin DiNapoli and Kristin Cataldo found the spot after searching for a spot near Boston for their second location. The original store is in Reading, and they have built a following in the Boston area through their food truck.

"We love the feel of Newtonville," Cataldo said. "When we drove by we though it was perfect. It has foot traffic and is down the street from (Newton North) high school."

Each day the store offers 12 to 14 different flavors of cupcakes, including on a recent visit Oreo cookie, red velvet and hot fudge sundae.

"We bake our cupcakes fresh each morning and we use the best ingredients - no preservatives," DiNapoli said.

Cupcakes cost $2.75 each or $29.95 a dozen. Gluten free ones are available for $3.50, and are available on Fridays.

The cupcake biz is new for both women. Cataldo practiced law for 10 years and DiNapoli raised a family. They met when their boys were in the same kindergarten class and both have a love of cooking and baking.

Cupcake City is open Tuesday to Friday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
