Newton North got things started well by traveling to Waltham and notching a 12-7 win on Thursday night. The winning score came when Devaughn White picked up a fumble and ran 25 yards for a touchdown, according to the Boston Globe.
Newton South hosts Brookline at 1 p.m. on Sunday in the season opener.
