200 Hour Teacher Training with Natasha Rizopoulos at Down Under Yoga (Weekends September 21, 2012 - February 10, 2013)

$3150 if paid in full by August 10th, $3400 after this date

The path to becoming a professional yoga teacher is a unique, satisfying and life-affirming journey. The training is rooted in our deep history as an eclectic school that embraces and celebrates many styles of Yoga. Our mission is to provide each Yoga teacher with the foundation to teach skillfully with compassion, safety and integrity, while honoring his or her individual voice and style. Nastasha teaches the Yogaworks method which blends yoga traditions from East and West, integrating both into a practical, unique method that combines Vinyasa flow with an emphasis on alignment and skillful sequencing. As part of the training, students will take class not only with Natasha but the faculty at Down Under, receiving instruction from some of America's finest teachers and gaining an understanding of the traditions and levels of instruction that have become a signature of the studio.

The training embraces three strands of the Krishnamacharya lineage - the Ashtanga method's heat and flow, the Iyengar method's precise detailed instruction and the teachings of Desikachar tailoring modifications so the practice fits the practitioner. The training emphasizes a student's personal practice as the source of creative teaching and includes a comprehensive study of techniques and mechanics of fundamental yoga postures as well as the tools necessary to teach. To deepen their education, students will study functional anatomy and physiology, explore yoga's philosophical underpinnings, practice meditation and pranayama and investigate the ancient science of Ayurveda.
