Newton SE Heads to the Championship

The Newton SouthEast Little League team is headed to the state championship.

The Newton SouthEast Little League team will take its winning ways to the state championship Monday evening after a win Sunday over Peabody West.

On Sunday, NSELL topped Peabody West 5-3 for a chance to play Hanover in Monday's state championship. A win Monday night would keep NSELL in the running for a trip to Williamsport, Penn., and a chance at the National World Series championship.

According to Peabody Patch, Newton SouthEast took an early lead in Sunday's game against Peabody and never looked back. The game ended on a strikeout for Peabody.

Weather permitting, Newton SouthEast will take on Hanover at 7 p.m. Monday at Parkway in West Roxbury (315 Baker St).

On the way to the state championship, NSELL has already beaten Hanover in tournament play, securing a 3-2 win on Saturday. Newton SouthEast also beat Holden 11-8 on Friday..

If you're headed to the game, snap a few pics and tell us about it. Patch will be there to provide coverage.
