Trip to Regionals Means Games, Fun and Expenses for Newton's Little Leaguers

See how you can support the Newton SouthEast Little League team.

Winning the state title means a trip to Bristol, Conn., for the New England Regional tournament for the Newton SouthEast Little League team, a chance to play on TV and an expense bill that could reach $7,000 or more.

The bus alone for the team’s trip to the regionals costs $700, said Newton SouthEast Board Member Peter Meyer. The players will also have many activities while they are in Connecticut.

“There is a lot of downtime, and you can’t just let 12 year old boys sit around with nothing to do,” Meyer said. “We will take them bowling, go to a movie, get them snacks.”

All in all, Meyer’s best guess is the cost will be around $7,000.

The Little League is selling T-shirts for $15 to help offset some of the cost, Meyer said. The shirts, which have all the players names and says “The Comeback Kids” can be purchased on the Newton SouthEast Little League website. Click here to visit the site. Donations can also be made on the site.
