Schedule of Events: Fourth of July in Newton

Newton throws its own patriotic party on July 4.

The Fourth of July in Newton promises a little something for every member of the family and the events take place all day long.

Here's the rundown:

The festivities get started with a Kids Morning (10am – Noon), at Newton Centre Playground at Tyler Terrace. Families and children ages 3-12 are invited to the celebration, which will include the Grand Pet parade (don't forget to bring Fido along), a Decorated Doll Carriage Promenade, the Teddy Bear Parade and foot races. Wrap it all up with FREE ice cream, candy and drinks donated by Trader Joe’s and Cabot’s Ice Cream.

The afternoon and evening events (1 p.m.-10 p.m.) shift to Albemarle Field, where festival-goers will find a craft fair, kiddie amusement rides, face painting, food vendors and more. There's also a line-up of live entertainment in the gazebo throughout the day:

noon – 2 p.m.: Maestro Musicians – a classical string quartet of high-caliber musicians delivers elegance, beauty and style.

2 p.m.:  The Kapps – a classic and modern rock band. Winners of the recent “Battle of the Bands” in Dedham.

3:30 p.m.: The Circuit Theatre Company previews its upcoming production of “The Valentine Trilogy” with rock n’ roll, juggling, stunts and more.

4:30 p.m.: Newton’s own Kevin McNamara will delight the crowds with popular songs

Then, at 6 p.m., the Bo & Bill Winiker Band will take the stage as guests picnic on the lawn, continue to shop the craft vendors and purchase light-up novelties in preparation for ...

Fireworks!

The fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m.
