Newton Bluefish Swim Another Stellar Summer Season

The Bluefish competed in their final championship meet on Saturday, wrapping up the 2012 summer season.

After earning their 500th win earlier this summer, the members of the Newton Bluefish swim team can also add "undefeated" to the list of accolades for the 2012 summer season. 

The local swim team, which is open to boys and girls ages 8-18, finished its season on Saturday with a first place finish in the South Suburban Swim League "A" championship meet at . The Bluefish defeated 11 other teams with a score of 513 points, more than 300 points above the second place team, the Framingham Frogs.

Newton took first place in 31 of the 51 swimming events, including the majority of the relay races.

This season's domination is not unlike the 2011 summer Bluefish season; the team finished last summer 11-0 with the "A" and "B" championship title as well.

The annual mile swim event was the only instance this season where Newton did not come out perfect. The boys finished second and the girls finished third, with a combined second place finish for the team.
