Newton Boys & Girls Club Names Youth of the Year

A West Newton teen received the annual recognition in 2013.

West Newton resident Jordan Kithcart has been named the John M. Barry Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year.

According to an announcement from the club, Kithcart was selected from among several area youths as "a true example of an extraordinary young man recognized by the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for his sound character, leadership skills and willingness to give back to the community."

Kithcart competed against other local Youth of the Year winners in the statewide competition. The state title ultimately went to the Youth of the Year from the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence.
