Newton Residents Teaming Up to End Alzheimer's

A reception will he held Monday for Team Newton, which will take part in the walk on Sept. 29.

Ward 4 Alderman Jay Harney and Mayor Setti Warren will join Newton residents on Team Newton in the Boston/Cambridge Walk to End Alzheimer's.

The event is special for Harney, who's mother, Dorothy, was diagnosed with the disease at age 78 and lived with it for seven years. 

The walk will be held on Sept. 29, but a reception will be held on Sept. 23 at Newton City Hall. 

Jim Wessler, President and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association MA/NH Chapter will join Warren and Harney for the pre-walk reception to thank and celebrate Newton residents who are supporting the 2013 Greater Boston/Cambridge Walk to End Alzheimer's.

The reception will take place on Monday, Sept. 23 in the War Memorial of Newton City Hall, 1000 Commonwealth Ave., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On the day of walk, Sept. 29, Team Newton will meet at Canal Park at the CambridgeSide Galleria at 8:30 a.m.
