Bank to Award $75,000 to 30 Local Non-Profits

WATERTOWN, February 2014--  On Tuesday, March 4th, Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) will give away $75,000 to the 30 local community organizations chosen by their banking customers, in the bank’s annual Customer Choice Awards.  The list of winners is below.

“The bank’s annual customer choice awards is in its 18th year, and is a program of which we are particularly proud,” said Ronald Dean, chief executive officer.  “The list of winners reflects the important work being done by non-profits and volunteer organizations throughout the communities we serve.  These funds will help support local schools, food pantries, and libraries just to name a few.”

Dollars to be awarded are based on the number of votes each organization received.  With a maximum amount of $3,500, any organization with at least one percent of the vote received funds. Voting took place over the latter half of 2013.

During the awards ceremony on March 4th, each of the winning organizations will have the opportunity to speak about the work they do and how they will use the funds.  It is a unique event that celebrates the efforts of the hard-working people who do so much to add to the quality of life in the local communities.

Voting for this year’s Customer Choice Awards is ongoing; the deadline to vote for your favorite non-profit, is December 31, 2014. For further information about WSB’s customer choice awards program, contact the coordinator at (617) 928-2336.
