Newton Community Farm 2013 Fall Festival

Come celebrate the harvest and enjoy time on the Newton Community Farm! There will be live music, farm tours, children's activities including pumpkin decorating, baked goods, delicious food, and more. Produce will also be available at the farmstand. Smithsonian Museum Day in Newton

Historic Newton is participating in Museum Day, an annual event hosted by Smithsonian magazine, in which museums across the country open their doors for free to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. The event will be held at the the Jackson Homestead and Museum, 527 Washington St. in Newton, will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, noon to 5 p.m. Also, at the Durant Kenrick House and Grounds, 286 Waverley Ave. in Newton, on Saturday, Sept. 28, 1:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. For more information or to print a ticket, visit: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday.


Supporters of Engine 6 Project 

The Supporters of Engine 6 invite residents to a public program about the proposal by Metro West Collaborative Development and Pine Street Inn to preserve the historic Waban firehouse by creating low-income studio apartments for nine formerly homeless individuals and one live-in house manager. Telling Your Story: Writing Seminar

The City of Newton Department of Senior Services presents a program to learn how to tell your life story, and hear the stories of others. This program meets at the Newton Senior Center, 345 Walnut Street, Newtonville. For more info about the Center, phone 617-796-1660. The program begins Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 9:45 a.m.

Forgirlsake Women's Tennis Tournament

Forgirlsake, a charity that aids education for young girls around the world, is hosting its first sporting event at Newton North High School on Saturday, Sept. 28. For the Love of Girls’ Women’s Doubles Tennis Tournament will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Female tennis players are encouraged to register and partners can be provided from the pool of registrants, if needed. A minimum $40 donation is requested to sign up. Find out more here.
