Israeli Consul Speaks, Blue Christmas Service, Carols and Candlelight

Take a look at some of the things going on in Newton this week.

Israeli Consul General Speaking at Marriott

Ambassador Ido Aharoni, Consul General of Israel in New York will speak Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the Newton Marriott. He has served as head of Israel’s Brand Management Team, focusing on bringing about a paradigm shift in the perception of Israel’s public image. Violin and Viola Gala

The Suzuki School of Music presents a special performance on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon Street, Newton Centre. Come and enjoy the wonderful group performances of our violin and viola students, ranging from the very beginner to the advanced high school students. Admission is free.

Blue Christmas Service

A service that will reflect on the less than joyous parts of the Christmas season will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Second Church in Newton, 60 Highland St., West Newton. A special addition to the service will be a performance of Adagios from Sonatas for Violin and Harpsichord by J. S. Bach with Katherine Winterstein, violin and Andrus Madsen, harpsichord. The event is free.

Newton Upper Falls Area Council Meeting

The Newton Upper Falls Area Council will hold its December meeting to discuss Upper Falls issues and projects on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Emerson Community Center, 51 Pettee Street, Newton Upper Falls.

Carols by Candlelight

The acclaimed choir of the Church of the Redeemer sings this historic service of Lessons and Carols brimming with choral and congregational carols on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at 379 Hammond Street, Chestnut Hill. Admission is free. Free parking. Click here to see the carols that will be performed.
