Outdoor Skating, Inauguration Day, City Hall Open House

See what's going on in Newton this week.

Skate Outdoors at Albemarle Field 

The community outdoor skating rink has been constructed on one of the softball fields next to Gath Pool at Albermarle Field in Newtonville. Weather permitting, grab your skates and skate outside. There are also outdoor rinks in Newton Highlands at Hyde Community Center and Newton Lower Falls, as well as one on Auburndale Cove. See if the Auburndale one is open by clicking here

Mayor's Open House

Mayor Setti Warren invites the public to the open house at Newton City Hall on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of free entertainment and activities. With performances by the American Chinese Art Society, David Polansky & the Dixieland All Stars, face painting, balloon animals, refreshments and arts & crafts with Michaels Craft Store. Also bring items for Care Packages for Soldiers and the Newton Food Pantries. 

Inauguration Day

Mayor Setti Warren, the Aldermen and School Committee members will be sworn in during Inauguration Day. The event is free but tickets are required The ceremony will be held at City hall on Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. The day starts at Temple Shalom where an interfaith ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Find out more here

Family Game Night

The Newton Free Library hosts Family Game Night on Monday at 7 p.m. Come with your family for a fun game night during winter vacation. We'll have pizza and board games. For information contact Liz at 617-796-1380 or teens@newtonfreelibrary.net

Children's Jewelry Making Class

Winter Vacation Jewelry Making Class for children 5 years old and older on Wednesday at 11 a.m. come with Come with your child and learn how to design and create your own one-of-a-kind earrings, bracelets and necklaces in this 60 minute, beginner’s jewelry making class. See more here.
