Rock Climbing Class, Blood Drive, Pneumonia Vaccine

Rock Wall Climbing Class

Children ages 6-8 years old will challenge their bodies in this introduction to rock climbing at a nine-week climbing class at the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center, 333 Nahanton St. in Newton. The class is held on Mondays, Jan. 13-March 24, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. See more details here.

History of the Charles River at the Library

Join author Ted Clarke as he illuminates the story of the river, which is the subject of his new book The Charles River: A History of Greater Boston's Waterway. Co-Sponsored by Historic Newton and the Newton Free Library on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Pneumonia Vaccine Available at Senior Center

Pneumococcal vaccine is available by appointment from the City of Newton Health and Human Services Department. Two clinics will be held at the Newton Senior Center in the coming weeks. Newton residents should contact their primary care physician to see if they need this vaccine, then call 617-796-1420 to make an appointment. Find out more by clicking here.


Health Maintenance Clinic at the Senior Center

A nurse from the Health and Human Services Department will hold a drop-in health maintenance clinic on Wednesday at 9 a.m. This is an opportunity for Newton residents to have their blood pressure taken, ask a medication question or consult with the public health nurse about a health issue.
