Your Guide: Ceremony Honors a Newton Revolutionary War Hero

A ceremony in Newton Highlands will be attended by Noah Wiswall's descendants.

During the battles in Lexington and Concord Newton sent three companies of militia which included 75-year-old Noah Wiswall, who became Newton's first disabled veteran when he was shot in the hand.

Saturday, Wiswall will be honored with a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the South Burying Ground on Winchester Street in Newton Highlands (near Needham Street).

Wiswall’s descendents from Maine, Florida and other states will attend the ceremony.

The event is open to the public and will be attended by veterans groups, the Newton Fire Department Color Guard, the Knights of Columbus Color Guard and the Charlestown Militia/Gardener’s Regiment of Revolutionary War reenactors.
