NOTE: This is about the cancellation process/membership services. The Newton branch is outdated, but clean enough.
I signed a one year contract and then needed to freeze my account for a period of time. The membership manager at Newton told me to just go ahead and freeze for 12 months but then I could come back in and unfreeze at any time. Easy enough, right? When I asked how it affected my contract, I was told that they add the period of time that my account was frozen to the end and extend my contract. And THEN he said, "we will notify you when your contract is going to be up soon". Well, several months later, my credit card has been charged for month-to-month payments, and I was NOT notified in any way shape or form that my contract had ended. Now I have to pay for next month's fee as well, since they need 30 days to process(!?). Sorry, but I have a full-time job and keeping up with my contract is BSC's job-didn't realize I needed to keep a paper trail from the gym.
Honestly, I could have swallowed all of this if it weren't for the incredibly condescending and unprofessional responses I got about this issue from both a manager at Newton and an employee at membership services. So rude. I would not recommend dealing with these people by any means.
