Newton Man Receives Two Life Sentences for 2009 Hyannis Murder
Robert Upton was sentenced to two life sentences, plus 15 years after he was found guilty Thursday of killing Aris Manoloules in 2009.
Newton resident Robert Upton will serve two life sentences for the 2009 murder of a Framingham man, according to the Cape Cod Times. Barnstable Superior Court Judge Gary Nickerson handed down the sentence this morning, which includes a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole for the first degree murder conviction, a life sentence for armed assault inside a home and 15 years for aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Upton, 48, was accused of shooting his brother-in-law, Aris Manoloules, 47, of Framingham, in Manoloules' Hyannis vacation home. Upton was found guilty Thursday of first-degree murder.
