UPDATED: Washington Street Walgreens Robbed by Knife Wielding Man

A man wearing a Patriots sweatshirt jumped over the counter and robbed the pharmacy.

[UPDATED Jan. 25] According to Your Town Newton, one of the Walgreens employees, a 67-year-old man, heard the robbery at the pharmacy counter and announced over the store loudspeaker that the store was being robbed, and to call 911.  The employee then approached the suspect, who punched and kicked the employee before fleeing down Hovey Street, Your Town Newton reported.  The employee was transported to Newton-Wellesley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  [UPDATED Jan. 21 at 8:14 p.m.] A man pulled a knife and jumped over the counter to rob the pharmacy at Walgreens on Washington Street this evening before fleeing the scene. Newton Liquor Store Robbed at Gunpoint

The Newton Upper Falls liquor store was robbed Tuesday night, police reported.

An Upper Falls liquor store was reportedly robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night, Newton Police said this morning.  According to reports, officers responded to All Star Liquors on Chestnut Street around 9:40 p.m. for reports for two males who robbed the store with black, non-revolver handguns.  The clerk at the store told police he was working at the register when two males with black ski masks walked into the store with the handguns demanding money. The men took an unknown amount of cash in a brown paper bag, reports said, and reportedly fled toward Oak Street after leaving the store.  There was one customer in the store at the time of the robbery, who was standing at the first register.
