Rox Diner Wins Newton's 'Best Sandwich'
The diner wins the inaugural "Best Of" contest on Newton Patch.
Rox Diner may be one of the new kids in town, but its sandwiches have won over the locals already. In Newton Patch's inaugural "Best Of" contest, 75 voters had cast their ballots when the poll closed at 9 a.m., and those votes helped decide the best sandwich maker in town. The winner? Newtonville's Rox Diner with a 42 percent of the vote. Second place was Bob's Sub Stop in Upper Falls with 17 percent of the vote. Rox Diner is relatively new to the Newton restaurant scene; it moved into town last fall and opened its doors in November. The Walnut Street location -- formerly occupied by KFC -- is an offshoot of the diner's other location in West Roxbury.
